John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) is seeking an Applications Engineer to work with partner Product Engineering groups, in agricultural equipment manufacturing, to define engine bill of materials including current and new physical part features and options, engine control, and vehicle interface software. In this position, you will: Define engine performance requirements with partner engineering. Negotiate and establish experimental, prototype, and production engine build schedules. Communicate partner requirements to JDPS organization including base engine design group, performance development group, electronic hardware and software groups, application design, and appropriate engine production factories. Ensure that partner application approval testing is completed satisfactorily. Coordinate JDPS internal activities to support overall projects. Be responsible for adhering to established Application Delivery Process as well as participating in activities designed to identify process gaps, establishing process improvement plans and ultimately executing those plans. Occasionally travel to such places as partner vehicle design and test facilities, partner vehicle production facilities, end-customer job sites, and engine production facilities. Education Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, other engineering discipline or equivalent experience. Required Skills and Experience Experience in engine design, engine performance, or vehicle applications. Demonstrated skills in communication of technical data and project information. Strong prioritization skills including ability to manage frequent changes. Flexibility in dealing with changing and/or partial information. Excellent team skills including project leadership and schedule management. Strong problem solving skills. Knowledge of a product development process. Ability to travel up to 15% to support vehicle testing and for meetings with vehicle partners. Desired Skills and Experience Experience using SAP, Pro/Intralink.
